After graduating from FHS I joined the US Marine Corps, spent a tour of duty in Vietnam and received two Purple Hearts. In 1970 I entered The University of Iowa and received my BS. I taught in the FCPS system for 21 years and retired in 1995. I then transferred from the Marine Corps Reserve and returned to Active service. From 1995 until 2004 I served in England, Italy, Korea, Bosnia, Hawaii, Bahrain and Afghanistan. I retired from the US Marines in 2004 and accepted a position as Senior Instructor/Subject Matter Expert for a Department of Defense contract. After my wife passed in 2014 I completely retired, sold my horse farm and in 2016 moved to the beach.
